On The Sidelines at Kyle Field

So for my first real post I decided to take some pictures at Kyle Field... not just outside the stadium or from across the street, but on the field. The Texas A&M Letterman's Association operates the Texas A&M Sports Museum, located in the Bernard C. Richardson Zone at Kyle Field, and after touring the exhibits guests are invited to walk out the back door leading through the northeast tunnel and right on to the sidelines of Kyle Field.  If you’ve never been to the museum or down on Kyle Field, you really should stop by the next chance you get.

Standing on field-level in the sun and the heat, looking up at all the empty seats that would normally be full, it’s easy to see why Kyle Field is one of the most intimidating venues in all of college football even if you’ve never been there on game day.

It was pretty amazing to look down the field unpainted. It was easy to see why the A&M groundskeepers have won awards for the best collegiate football field in the country. The field looked like a perfectly maintained green on a golf course... short blades of grass really close together; nice and green even in the Texas midsummer heat.

I'm sure you can tell how faded and ugly the metal/vinyl (I'm not sure which) facade on the face of the 3rd deck looks. The 12th Man loves to bang on the sign as they yell and between hands and fists banging the sign, Aggie Rings knocking off the paint, and the Texas sun fading what’s left, it looks more black and white than maroon and white. Were getting pretty close to the beginning of the season and it still looks pretty bad... I hope it gets fixed before we kickoff 2010 against SFA on September 4th.

12th Man TV... I love that the entire video board is used for replays and video and the ads are placed around the screen not taking up video space.

These photos are in the General Gallery AND the Athletics Photo Gallery.
